AirDrop is one of Apple’s finest features. You can’t use it without an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Android users don’t have to worry about that because there is a super handy alternative.
Snapdrop is similar to AirDrop in many aspects. You indicate which file you want to transfer and hop; the file appears on your other device. You no longer have to mess with sending via apps such as WhatsApp or Gmail, but you can move the file directly from your phone to your PC (or vice versa).
AirDrop For Android
You do not need to create an account to transfer a file via Snapdrop. You can get started right away, and it’s also free. All you have to do is go to Snapdrop’s Website on two Android devices. Of course, these devices must be connected to the same (Wi-Fi) network.
You can then drag your files to the window (on PC) or add them via the middle button (on smartphones). The files will appear on the other device in no time, so you can continue working there. It can be that simple, just like with AirDrop.
Also Useful For Some iPhone Users
Snapdrop is not only useful for people with an Android phone but also for iPhone users who do not have a Mac but a Windows PC. You can only use AirDrop between Apple devices, and only some with an iPhone are completely devoted to the Apple Ecosystem.
Still, AirDrop cannot be replaced 1-to-1 by Snapdrop on Android. With the look-a-like, it can sometimes take longer for devices to find each other. Moreover, sending multiple files simultaneously only sometimes works well. If you have multiple Apple devices at home, you may prefer using AirDrop anyway.
Snapdrop isn’t the only AirDrop alternative that Android users can turn to, by the way. Google introduced its rival Nearby Share a few years ago. The only drawback is that you can only use Android devices (and Chromebooks).
