General Motors, the renowned automaker, has announced its plans to integrate ChatGPT into its new vehicles in collaboration with Microsoft. Scott Miller, General Motors Vice President, stated that the chatbot technology would be a part of everything, offering drivers a completely new experience.
Miller added that the new feature would enable drivers to explore the world while on the go and facilitate access to information on vehicle features, typically found in owner’s manuals. He further explained that the chatbot could also program features such as garage door codes or integrate schedules from a calendar.

A spokesperson from General Motors stated that the shift to incorporate emerging technologies, like chatGPT, into vehicles is not just about one capability, such as the evolution of voice commands. Instead, buyers can expect their future vehicles to be far more skilled and fresh overall.
The American automaker was previously reported to be working on a virtual personal assistant using AI models behind chatGPT.
Since the launch of chatGPT, many companies have incorporated the technology into their daily routines, including major tech companies like Microsoft, which announced a multi-billion dollar investment in ChatGPT owner OpenAI earlier this year.
With infotainment systems, automatic driving, operating systems that control battery performance, and many other features, Microsoft has been attempting to incorporate more technology into autos.
Further, in its collaboration with Microsoft, General Motors has also made a secret “strategic investment” in Israeli startup UVeye, which offers a system that uses sensors and AI to quickly identify damaged vehicle parts.
The system resembles an airport body scanner and enables diagnostic systems that provide a detailed report about the vehicle’s system in just a few seconds.
By incorporating chatGPT, General Motors is moving toward vehicle modernization and constantly improving its technology to provide the best services to its customers.
The decision to incorporate chatGPT is expected to make it easier for users to access information found in owner’s manuals and enhance the driving experience for customers.
