We can say that the AI war has broken out. Both Microsoft and Google have shown off their versions of Artificial Intelligence. Both technologies have enormous potential, but the implementation in Android 14, for example, can be decisive.
Microsoft’s presentation, or ‘soft launch,’ went like lightning. The company plans to use ChatGPT to implement it in Bing. Unlike the presentation of Google’s new Bard technology. But that doesn’t say anything.
Google has an AI asset thanks to Android 14
You may have never heard of Google AI because the company only presented it last week. The AI project is called Bard and uses Google’s Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA).
On the other hand, Microsoft has invested $10 billion in the OpenAI company responsible for ChatGPT. The software and hardware giant is now hard at work unleashing artificial intelligence in waves on the general public in the search engine Bing and later also in the browser Edge.
As mentioned, Google’s AI launch went in fits and starts (during the presentation, for example, the phone with Bard could not be found on stage). In addition, Bard uses a ‘natural’ language model for the AI that scrapes existing information from websites (which ChatGPT also does).
The problem, however, is that when the online source or sources need to be corrected, you get a bucket of misinformation. That can be very funny, but certainly also disastrous.
Assistant as a ‘true’ friend
We won’t be able to blindly trust our “conversations” with Bard and ChatGPT for some time. But here’s a big advantage that Google has: –
Google Assistant.
Using AI in a ‘closed’ environment like Android 14 can be much more useful than ‘simple’ searches. It can have conversations instead of crassly executing commands.
In addition, Google’s Bard on future Android phones can easily analyze behavior and provide users with really useful information, even if you may not ask for it yourself. Using AI in phones is nothing new. For years, it has been monitoring things like your battery and putting apps to sleep when you’re not using them.
So with Brad’s help, you could say, “Toedeledoki, Google, I’m going on vacation for two weeks!” Then it’ll get things like security, thermostat, standby for appliances, and other things ready. And without having to fiddle with Automation first because your Assistant knows everything about your lifestyle. She may even wish you a happy holiday.
So now that we think about it, Apple will also be concerned about Bard’s AI in Google’s Android 14 because Siri is completely embarrassingly clumsy.
