Punjab cabinet has approved the Solar Panel Scheme for 4.5 million consumers who use up to 500 units of electricity. This decision was made during the 11th cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
“We are bringing Solar Panel Scheme for 4.5 million consumers who use up to 500 units,” Maryam Nawaz said. “There is anxiety among people due to the increase in electricity bills. Together with my team, we have found a solution.”
Eligibility Criteria For Solar Panel Scheme
- Customers will pay 10% down payment for Solar Panel Scheme.
- 200 units, solar panels will be provided completely free of charge.
- 201 and 300 units will be eligible for a loan of Rs 2,25,000.
- 301 and 400 units, a loan of up to Rs 3,00,000 will be available.
- 401 and 500 units will be eligible for a loan of Rs 3,75,000.

Eligible customers of all consumption levels will find an appropriately sized loan for a solar system with nominal repayments tailored to individual means. With such convenient options, there has never been a better time to switch to clean, affordable solar energy.
The cabinet also approved the standard version of the Holy Quran and the hiring of the University of Health Sciences to conduct the MD CAT 2024 exam. They also approved the new method of installing divisional directors of education and college principals and abolished the two-year Pharmacy Assistant Course.
In order to protect the environment, the cabinet amended Boilers and Pressure Vessels Ordinance 2002, banning substandard oil. Additionally, the cabinet amended the Punjab Mining Concession Rules 2002 and established a Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate in the Department of Law and Parliamentary Affairs.
Moreover, the cabinet signed an MoU with the World Food Program, amended the Punjab Police Service Rules, and extended the Walled City of Lahore Authority to the whole Punjab. They also accepted the resignation of the President of Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank Limited and appointed interim and permanent Presidents.
Finally, the cabinet approved the preceding developments and two technical supplementary grants 15 million euro from KFW Development Bank for the ”Green Energy Project,” and the solarisation of schools and hospitals.
